Smoke Free Summer campaign launches across the East of England
Residents across the East of England are being encouraged to make this summer the season they quit smoking, as the East of England Tobacco Control Programme's Let's Be Clear brand launches its new 'Smoke Free Summer' campaign.
29 June 2026
The campaign aims to inspire smokers to take their first step towards a healthier, smoke-free future while highlighting the free support available through local stop smoking services across the region.
Smoke Free Summer builds on the successful launch of the Let's Be Clear brand, which was established at the end of 2025 as a new regional platform for trusted information, advice and support on smoking and tobacco-related harms. The brand made its campaign debut earlier this year, promoting the Let's Be Clear website and helping connect residents with their local stop smoking services.
Now, as people spend more time outdoors with family and friends during the summer months, the latest campaign focuses on the immediate benefits of quitting smoking, including improved health, more money in your pocket and the freedom to enjoy summer activities without cigarettes.
The campaign directs smokers to the Let's Be Clear website, where they can find information about the benefits of quitting and access tailored support from their local stop smoking service. Research consistently shows that people are up to three times more likely to quit successfully when using specialist stop smoking support compared with going it alone.
Derek Ward Director of Public Health for Norfolk County Council and chair of the Let's Be Clear Steering Group said:
"Summer is often a time when people think about making positive changes to their lifestyle, spending more time with loved ones and enjoying the outdoors. Smoke Free Summer is about reminding people that support is available and that quitting smoking is one of the best things they can do for their health, wellbeing and finances.
The Let's Be Clear website makes it easier than ever for people to find trusted advice and connect with local stop smoking services that can help them quit for good.
Many people who successfully quit smoking have made several attempts before stopping for good. That's completely normal. Every quit attempt is a step closer to becoming smoke free.
The important thing is not to give up. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to quitting, which is why a wide range of support is available through local stop smoking services. Whether someone wants face-to-face support, online help, nicotine replacement products or tailored advice, there are options to suit different lifestyles and circumstances.
The campaign has officially launched and will run throughout the summer across a range of channels to maximise reach and engagement:
- Radio advertising: 15 June - 26 July
- Out-of-home advertising (OOH): 22 June - 2 August
- Digital advertising: 15 June - 9 August
